Terms of Service

Version 2026-04-23 · Last updated April 23, 2026

The short version

Artisan helps makers run their small businesses — a public page, events, orders, and messaging. By using it, you agree to these terms. Be honest, don't hurt anyone, and respect the people you work with. The long version below spells out the details.

Who these terms apply to

These terms cover everyone who uses Artisan — artisans who publish a page and sell their work, and customers who RSVP to events, place orders, or follow an artisan. Some sections apply only to one group; we'll flag those when they come up.

You need to be at least 13 years old to use Artisan, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to sell or accept payments on the platform.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure — use a strong password, don't share your sign-in, and tell us at support@artisan-app.com if you suspect someone else is using it. Anything that happens under your account is your responsibility.

The information you give us (name, email, phone) should be accurate and kept up to date.

For artisans

When you publish a page, list a product, or host an event on Artisan:

  • You're running your own business. You set your prices, fulfil your orders, and decide who you work with. Artisan is a platform — we don't bake, host, or ship for you.
  • You're responsible for the accuracy of what you publish — ingredients, allergens, pickup times, event details, refund policies. Customers are relying on you to be straight with them.
  • You comply with the laws that apply to your work — food safety, cottage food rules, licensing, sales tax, anything else. If your local laws require disclosures, make them.
  • You grant Artisan a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host and display the content you publish on the platform. You keep ownership of your content — this license only exists so we can show your page to the people you want to reach.

For customers

When you RSVP, order, or follow on Artisan, you're doing business with the artisan — not with Artisan directly. Your contract for goods and services is with them. If something goes wrong with an order, start by contacting the artisan. We're happy to help mediate, but they're the one fulfilling.

Provide accurate contact details so the artisan can reach you, and show up (or cancel in good time) for events you RSVP to.

Payments

Paid orders on Artisan are processed by Stripe. By placing a paid order, you also agree to Stripe's terms. We don't store your full card number — Stripe handles that.

Refunds, cancellations, and disputes are handled between the customer and the artisan, per the artisan's stated policy. We may take action on the platform (e.g. removing a listing or suspending an account) in response to repeated complaints, chargebacks, or fraud.

Artisan may charge platform fees or subscription fees in the future. We'll tell you clearly before any fee applies to your account.

What you can't do

Don't use Artisan to:

  • Sell anything illegal where you or your customers are located.
  • Misrepresent what you're selling — counterfeit goods, fraudulent listings, or deceptive descriptions.
  • Harass, threaten, or spam other users.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or stress-test the service.
  • Use the platform to send unsolicited messages outside the scope of the artisan-to-follower relationship customers opted into.
  • Interfere with the platform's security or other users' accounts.

We reserve the right to remove content, suspend accounts, or end your access to Artisan if you break these rules. We'll do our best to tell you why.

Content ownership and takedowns

You keep the copyright to everything you upload. You're responsible for making sure you have the rights to what you publish — including photos, names, and marks.

If you believe content on Artisan infringes your copyright or trademark, email support@artisan-app.com with enough detail for us to investigate.

Ending your use of Artisan

You can delete your account at any time — sign in and follow the instructions, or email us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a risk to other users.

When your account ends, your public page comes down. We'll retain records we're required to keep (for tax, fraud, or legal reasons) and delete the rest on a rolling schedule — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Disclaimers

Artisan is provided "as is." We work hard to keep the platform running, but we can't promise it will always be available, bug-free, or suited to a particular purpose. We're not a party to the transactions between artisans and customers, and we don't warrant any products or services sold through the platform.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Artisan, its team, and its service providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Artisan in the six months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars.

Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold Artisan harmless from claims arising out of your content, your conduct, or your violation of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we'll let you know in the product or by email. Continuing to use Artisan after a change means you accept the new version.
